Calfshed interior
The Calfshed is in the final stages, bathrooms are in and we are starting to fit out the bedrooms and living areas. We are keeping it simple with natural materials, a grey palette and lots of texture.

Half term
We managed to catch a glimpse of the snow in London and came back to sunshine here. It looked quite pleasant from the car park at Putsborough but it was a bitterly cold walk.

Ducks
We were given these ducks by our neighbours last year, they are not nearly as friendly as our chickens but they are the loveliest things to watch.

Robin
The chickens and ducks are too cold to come out of their house and the pheasants and robins are making the most of it.

Wassail
This evening we are drinking to the health of our apple trees and hoping that this year's harvest will be a good one! For hot mulled cider, or warm mulled apple juice for little ones, you can make a sachet of the following: cinnamon, star anise, cardamom pods, fresh ginger, dried orange peel, nutmeg. Add honey to sweeten.

Heddon's Mouth

The drive to Heddon's Mouth is a treat in itself with stunning views over Exmoor and mossy tree-lined lanes taking you to Hunter's Inn where we started our walk. A path along the river leads through a steep wooded valley to a spectacular pebble beach where you can rest and explore before heading back for hot chocolate at the Inn.
